Trick or Treat

We've been busy tonight passing out candy bars. Dean even had to go back to the store and it's only 7:40 pm...it could be that we ran out because he can't seem to stay out of the candy bowl... :)

Meanwhile between kids, I thought I would try to make velvet and fabric pumpkins.
Penny, who works at Joyworks, gave little velvet pumpkins as gifts this week and I thought they were so cool. They were pretty easy to make. I simply cut out a circle, stitched around the edge, cinched it together, filled it with beans, and added a fake stem.
This week I think I'll go to the fabric store and look for more velvet in pretty fall colors and get some real stems.

What a Hoot!

Over the last few years owls have become very popular. This year we thought it would be fun to decorate an owl themed tree.
We had so much fun putting this display together using vintage suitcases, aged book pages, champagne glitter picks and lots of owls.

I enlarged my paper owl and added silver glass glitter...

You're all invited...

Joyworks Craft Star

The reality is that we love reality shows so for Shelly and Rita's birthday party we decided to have our own challenge for the next Joyworks Craft Star.
Rita and Shelly were each given a matching pile of supplies and a half hour to create something wonderful.

Let the games begin...
Here is Shelly ready to go with her glue gun in hand.
Watch out Rita this is going to be a tough competition...

In the next room Rita is quickly creating and gluing...she seems very calm...

Shelly created a beautiful necklace with buttons.pearls, and tulle.

Rita created a special treasure box filled with all her favorite things and delivered a very touching presentation.

It was a tough decision but there can only be one winner...
One Joyworks Craft Star!

After much deliberation we chose Shelly's necklace as the winner and awarded her with a special crown.

And...then we ate these delicious pumpkin cupcakes made by Jill who just happens to be this years Joyworks Food Star.

Another fun Joywork Party!

For those of you that can't make it to the show we will post more pictures later.

Joy of Crafting

I've been a busy girl today making things for the Ruffles and Rust show coming up this Friday and Saturday.
My house is sprinkled with glitter and Dean informed me that I even had glitter up my nose...

A new large sign we are having made.

I think it will be a great addition to the store and we can use it at the show.

I know...

it seems too early but it's just around the corner.

At Joyworks it takes us over a month to get the store decorated for Christmas so we're right on schedule.

Jill and I decorated a funky fun tree today filled with Fleur-de-lis', vintage paper, burlap ribbon, keys, word ornaments, tinsel garland, signs, and birds.

We liked how it turned out... something a little different.
