My Favorite Singer

When I was a little girl my great Aunt Gertie gave me a vintage child's sewing machine... a 1953 SINGER sewhandy. I don't think I ever used it but I remember thinking it was so cute.

I haven't seen it for years but on Christmas Eve it showed up at my parent's house... I was so excited to see it again.

Pearl Girl

This year for Christmas my husband gave me a 100 inch cultured pearl necklace... so fun!

I love it and found out later that it was popularized by Coco Chanel.

You can create multiple looks from the same necklace: wear it long and loose, layered with other necklaces, or you can double or triple the strand to create a shorter necklace. You can even wrap it several times around your wrist or pin a brooch on your necklace.

Bleach it...

I have heard that you can bleach green bottle brush trees and turn them antique white. I found a large bag of trees in various sizes and decided to give it a try.

It works! Just be patient... they need to soak until you reach desired look(no longer than a few hours) and you need to use straight bleach...no diluting...
Rinse, dry and glitter if you wish.

Flights of Fancy

Shelly's house was also on the Christmas Parlour tour. For something different this year she added a touch of leopard to her beautiful decor.

Her tree was filled with angels, birds, crowns, wings, and cherub ornaments.I liked the combination of antique white, glitter, silver, gold, green, burlap, and finally a touch of fancy...leopard.

Little Houses

I made this little creation for the Joywork party gift exchange.
Today I am off to the Fremont Market to look for more little vintage houses so I can make some more...

Stephanie's House

I was lucky enough to get a private tour of Stephanie's house before the Snohomish Parlour Tour. Her house is so beautifully decorated...she is so talented.

She bought these vintage corbels from me and made them into a shelf over a doorway...so cool!

She has collected wonderful crowns...

Fun vintage railroad sign...

Beautiful fresh tree...

Angel wings from Joyworks...

Accent lamp ...she uses vintage books for risers...a great idea!

Group like things...

Love the cranberries in the tub...

She makes beautiful flower arrangements...

She even makes most of her custom lampshades, pillows, and curtains...

Love the mix of textiles... linen,fur,burlap,satin...

So much attention to detail...

Thank you Stephanie for all the inspiration.
Now I just need to learn how to sew again, paint furniture cream and use brown glaze, and look for old books, lamps, and frames...whew... maybe in the new year... :)

Parlour Tour Part II

It's always so inspiring to see how others decorate their homes for Christmas.
I loved how Shelly Moeur incorporated her wonderful collections with her Christmas decorations.
