It Worked!

Tonight I thought I would do a little experiment with my ink jet printer. I attached linen fabric with spray glue to a standard sheet of card stock and ran it through my printer and color copied a bird picture onto the fabric.

With a little guidance the feeder took the paper and the image came out pretty good. The fabric came off easily and clean from the paper and I attached it to a linen pillow.

I now have a cute new bird pillow for my sofa...

Vials of Violas

A quick craft idea is to twist wire around the top of a small glass vial, fill it with water, and add a small fresh flower. It looks especially cute hanging from a branch in a spring bouquet.

Paper Roses and more...

This morning I found a Martha Stewart video on the Internet on how to make paper roses out of crepe paper. It was fun to make and turned out pretty good...I think I'll make some more.

Later this afternoon I found a Martha Stewart pattern for a daffodil and gave it a try...

Wedded Bliss

Yesterday was my wedding anniversary so I had weddings on my mind. I've always loved anything to do with weddings...especially vintage or vintage inspired wedding.
My mom has a great collection of vintage wedding toppers so I am always on the hunt.

Last night Faded Elegance had a Girl's Night In at her store featuring a few local talents. Amada Lebel, from Over the Top Studios, brought in her wonderful detailed wedding toppers which have a vintage feel.

They are so beautiful that if I had seen them eleven years ago I would definitely have topped my cake with one of her designs.

Flower Power

In the last few days we have been having fun making simple tissue and crepe paper flowers.
They are so bright and happy!
Today I heard a customer say that whoever owns this store must be Artsy-Fartsy...I just had to laugh...

Just Because...

Last week my husband gave me a dozen long stem light green roses...just because - I always love that! I've enjoyed them for one week in a tall glass vase and today I thought it would be fun to arrange them in an urn. Since the urn doesn't hold water, I put a flower frog in a small bowl, filled it with water, and placed the cut roses into the spokes of the frog. The bowl fit perfectly into the top of the urn. It was so easy and I thought it turned out pretty nice...

Over the years I have collected various styles of flower frogs but have never actually used them for their original purpose. I've used them to hold pictures, postcards, and pencils..but never flowers...they work quite well!

Creative Minds think Alike

On this long vacation I put my creative mind to rest so when I got back I had to give it a jump start. I read a few blogs where they made flowers out of coffee filters and thought that would be a fun craft to get me back in the game. So I went out and bought the filters, made a simple flower, and brought it into the store on Thursday to show the girls.
I walked in the shop for the first time and there was Sandi holding this adorable garland she had made from coffee filters and various other pretty papers the night before ... We couldn't believe it! Too Funny!
We got so inspired that we had to make more...

Sandi's Easter Greeting

"My ardent prayer for Easter be that angels ever follow thee; Keep thee from harm and from distress, from day to day thy doings bless".

This saying was in Sandi's baby book and so she copied it, added glitter and made it into this sweet little card.

How cute are these vintage crepe paper cups. They were perfect for Sandi's creative little treats she delivered this week to all of us at Joyworks.

PEEPS

I recently saw an article in Country Living magazine about Peeps and thought it would be fun to put them on the blog.

Did you know that Peeps marshmallow candies have been popping up in Easter baskets since 1953? The Bethlehem,Pa. based company that makes Peeps originally specialized in chocolates and today it stays busy churning out chicks and bunnies full time. Last year alone the company made enough Peeps to circle the globe.

Four facts about our little Peeps:

It takes six minutes to make one Peeps chick! Original Peeps have a shelf life of two years. Wow,that's good to know!!! More than 5 million Peeps are produced each day and they have been the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy in the Unites States for more than a decade. Take that, jelly beans..

We have these Peeps looking ornaments at Joyworks; don't they look cute in a nest? They are also are great on an Easter tree. Have fun with them whether you eat them or use them in a display.

My Collection

I thought I'd share my collection of vintage restaurant creamers with you that I have been collecting for a few years now. It is always fun when I come across a color I don't have. I'm still searching for a true red one.

I love to line them up in my kitchen window and as you can see I found some signs of spring in my yard yesterday. The creamers are so cheerful when I use them this way.

This little creamer Jana found for me at a sale for .10 cents. Isn't is cute with the oil painting I found for .25 cents. I occasionally look for my creamers on ebay, but once in awhile I find them at estate sales, etc. I try to pick them up for $2.00 to $3.00, but once in a while I will pay more if it is a color I like.

Happy collecting !!!
